Public invited to view Preliminary Design Concept for the Declo Port of Entry Project
SHOSHONE--The public is invited to an open house event hosted by the Idaho Transportation Department on Thursday, May 17. The event will provide an opportunity for individuals to review and comment on the proposed preliminary design concept for the new Declo Port of Entry Project.
The open house will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Burley City Hall, City Council chambers - 1401 Overland Ave. in Burley. Those interested in the project may drop in anytime during the meeting to view preliminary design concepts, project illustrations and related information. Representatives from the design team will be present to answer questions and gather input.
The purpose of the project is to relocate the Cotterel Port of Entry to Interstate 84 near milepost 219 (between the Declo and Salt Lake City interchanges) and provide a safer traveling experience for all vehicles on the interstate system. The new location is intended to facilitate more efficient trucking operations through advanced technology, and will meet current federal compliance standards.
Elements of the new facility will include expansion of interstate access control, new eastbound and westbound on and off ramps, support utility infrastructure, scales with weigh-in-motion and automated vehicle identification technologies, video equipment, luminaries, signage and operations office buildings. Construction is scheduled to start in 2020.
For more information about the open house and the project, please contact Nathan Jerke, ITD Project Manager at 208-886-7809 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
