ITD communication efforts for innovation honored as one of nation’s best

The Idaho Transportation Department is national finalist for communication efforts related to the Innovate ITD! program. The national honor is in the category “PR on a Shoestring Budget” for the national group PR News. ITD is one of eight finalists competing for the honor from entries across the country.

The communication has resulted in approximately $1 million in positive publicity value in 2016 for ITD's innovation program, between print, broadcast and web media and the calculated value in terms of public goodwill and agency image.

The winner will be announced at the National Press Club meeting March 22 in Washington, D.C.

The award honors the internal and external communication efforts ITD has used in developing the very successful Innovate ITD program. The department’s communication effort leveraged goodwill and word of mouth to advance the cause, which has resulted in national, regional, state and local media coverage, and perhaps most significantly, widespread support from state policymakers.

“The participation of communications team members on the strategic innovation team has been invaluable in heightening engagement through awareness building, best practices sharing and celebrating success,” said Chief Administrative Officer Charlene McArthur.

“Partnering with the entire communications team in carrying out our vision to brand the innovative efforts of ITD employees and share our successes outside of ITD has resulted in solidifying our credibility with our DOT peers and our citizen stakeholders,” she added.
