On deck

Hydroblasting. Chipping with a jackhammer. Sandblasting. Power washing.

It’s all to create a bonding surface on bridge decks in preparation for resurfacing with new concrete.

Crews peel off several inches of the deck and clean the surface, before pouring a few new inches to the exterior, thus preserving the decks and smoothing the riding surface.

Workers also repave approaches to match the new bridge deck.

This kind of work is happening all over the state this summer. Here is a video showing the typical process of hydroblasting.
