TTA Bootcamp clears career-development path
for new maintenance employees

Already seeing an influx of new Transportation Techs and anticipating even more in coming years, District 6 recently developed a "TTA Bootcamp" to get those new employees acclimated to a career in the Idaho Transportation Department.

"We wanted to have a method to get them trained on the basic elements of the TTO program," said D6 Operations Manager Jesse Barrus. "Having consistent training across each foreman area, we gave the TTOs a kick start to their development and effectiveness."

"We figured that if we brought them all together, we could do this efficiently and consistently."

To ease the indoctrination process, D6 also paired a mentor with the new employees.

"David Fullmer designed, organized, and taught this program for them, he became a mentor," said Barrus. "And they developed a relationship with each other." Fullmer, the new Rigby Maintenance Foreman, is pictured at right.

"We developed this program to facilitate training and mentoring. It will be used for many TTOs to come," Barrus explained. "We are providing a higher level of service at a quicker rate by having this program implemented."
