Snake River Bridge work continues near Bruneau

Construction of the Snake River Bridge on Idaho Highway 51 near Bruneau continues with girder placement scheduled for the end of the month. Traffic is already moving across a new section of the bridge that was completed as part of phase one.

The bridge is being built in phases, one half at a time, in an effort to preserve mobility for farm equipment and other vehicles that primarily transport farming goods and services through this rural stretch of southwest Idaho.

Weather-permitting, asphalt paving will begin this year. Construction of the entire bridge is scheduled for completion in 2018.

“We are pleased with progress on the structure itself,” District 3 Project Manager Dana Dietz said. “With harvest season upon us, it is imperative this bridge remain open and accessible to all motorists and vehicles.”
