McGourty takes reins as Public Transportation Manager

One of the young guns in the public transportation office, Kim McGourty, is the new manager of the unit, after starting with ITD in the spring of 2015 as an intern. McGourty's first day as manager was Sept. 11.

Working as a grants officer, McGourty streamlined funding programs, internal processes, and fostering relationships with providers and partners around the state. She spearheaded a number of Initiatives, including Idaho's Workforce Transportation Initiative, and was also recently elected to serve on AASHTO's Multi-States Technical Assistance Program as a steering committee member, representing ITD and Idaho as a whole.

"I see great opportunities to become more integrated into the Department's goals and missions, and help weave Public Transportation into the fabric of our highway systems," McGourty said.

"I look forward to bringing about even more collaboration amongst internal and external stakeholders," Kim explained, "and helping create an environment for Public Transportation in Idaho to thrive."

"I am very excited to continue to build upon the success we have seen this past year," she added.

McGourty holds a Psychology degree from Boise State University.

Away from work, she enjoys running and country music.

In announcing her hiring, ITD Chief Deputy Scott Stokes said, "Kim has already made a very positive impact advancing our PT programs in Idaho as a grants manager and has demonstrated great leadership."
