Collaboration, prioritization reduces "special titles" backlog
from six weeks to zero

When the backlog of "non RT" or special circumstance titles grew to six weeks in July, DMV Administrator Alberto Gonzalez challenged the Titles Unit to reduce it as quickly as possible.

Process changes were implemented in lien sales, motor-vehicle records, stops, how work and phone calls were distributed and in the QA/QC process. By Aug. 22, the Titles Unit completely eliminated the backlog and is committed to a one-day turnaround. As of early October, the backlog remains at zero.

"This is an excellent example of how prioritization and collaboration work," Gonzalez said. "My compliments to the leadership and commitment of Jeanne Purcell and her team, Caleb Forrey for contributing his QA/QC expertise, and Chris Fisher for dedicating some of her time to assist."
