Nampa resident gives D3 kudos for pedestrian-ramp improvements

Making sure our work not only meets the needs of drivers, but also those with personal mobility limitations, is a priority for ITD. That care and concern was on display recently in Canyon County.

In early October, D3 Design-Construction Project Manager Jayme Coonce (pictured below) wrote to property owners and stakeholders near a resurfacing and reconstruction project on the Interstate 84 Business Route in Nampa.

Coonce explained the upcoming work, (which included 127 pedestrian ramps), why it was being done, and how long the project might take.

A week later, Nampa’s Mary Anne Tschannan wrote back:

“Thank you for doing the work on the roads. It is a hassle sometimes with detours and other limitations, but honestly, I think ITD does a great job when they build, repair or upgrade our system.

I’m grateful also, because I wheel a child downtown often in a wheelchair and it does make a difference for ramps, for easy access from street to curb to sidewalks. I am always looking ahead when I wheel this child because there are often impediments and I need to go another way.

Your work is very appreciated.”
