Drager dominates D1 delivery celebration

District 1 delivered 100% of its projects for the upcoming year — worth $80 million— by the statewide deadline of Sept. 29. All it took was collaboration between a group of narwhals, a windblown newscaster, and their colleagues.

By meeting this deadline, employees from the district and headquarters delivered on a promise of safety and of mobility to the residents of north Idaho. Meeting the delivery deadline ensures upcoming projects are designed well, awarded at the best bid prices, and ready for the traveling public to use on time.

District 1 management decided to celebrate its workers’ success in style — a costume party..

Employees, some disguised as narwhals, pirates and gangsters, gathered for a potluck celebration on Halloween.

Although he was challenged by toothed whales and a pierced hoodlum, materials engineer Jeff Drager (pictured right) took home the prize of $30 for his homemade costume of a windblown newsman.

Drager spent all of his winnings on his favorite meats during dinner at Mongolian BBQ.

All costumes and treats aside, District 1 workers met deadlines critical to continue to provide transportation for the public that is safe and connected to their economic opportunities.
