What ITD means by a "Times 7" innovation
and how you can help

Employees have made ITD Innovation a huge success in a few short years, contributing more than 1,200 ideas, which created more than 750 implemented innovations, $5.1 million in savings and efficiencies, and almost 170,000 hours saved. Now it's time for the next step.

"Some of the ideas are really good, but just imagine if we took them beyond the silo they were created in and used them statewide?" asked ITD Innovation champion Charlene McArthur. She's referring to the Times Seven (x7) concept. Times 7 means an innovation has an impact beyond the area where it was birthed — it could potentially be implemented in each of ITD's six districts plus Headquarters (6+1=7).

"We're talking about the potential for multiplying the dollars saved, sharing safety benefits for employees AND road users across the state, and making our jobs easier and more efficient," explained McArthur.

"We have incredibly creative employees who care about the ITD mission of ensuring safety, mobility and economic opportunity for employees, our customers and Idaho citizens. We've accomplished great things in a short period of time, and duplicating those successes across the department is the next step," she added.
