ITD works for public safety - videos from north Idaho crews

The Office of Communication welcomes and encourages videos and photos submitted to us from the frontlines - we can show the public your hard work.

The below videos were submitted to us from District 1 this past week, showing ITD gearing up for a heavy snowfall in the north Idaho area, and clearing a path for salt and brine deliveries the next morning.

They have been well received on social media — a combined 6,800 views and impressions — and may be used by Director Ness for his next report to the Idaho Transportation Board.

Below are links to the videos - keep 'em coming!

I-90 Snow Blower, Lookout Pass

Caption: A snow blower clears the shoulder at Lookout Pass on I-90 before the next storm hits this weekend. Clearing the shoulder helps create the storage space needed to accommodate the next round of snowfall and plowing, and also clears out space in case cars depart the lanes and leave the slick roadway.

I-90 Grader, Fourth of July Pass

Caption: A road grader operates near Fourth of July Pass Wednesday (Jan. 24) morning, as crews cleared a path for salt and brine deliveries for ITD road-clearing efforts. In additiion, they cleared out the chain-up area is front of the Cedars shed for trucks that may need to use it.
