Director's Report to Idaho Transportation Board          

Via pre-recorded video, ITD Director Brian Ness addressed several issues in the March 15 meeting of the Idaho Transportation Board.

He mentioned the rockslide that closed a portion of Interstate 90 earlier this month and staff’s commendable actions to reopen the highway. He highlighted the 25 employees participating in the Emerging Leaders Program, summarizing the department and its responsibilities as part of the onboarding program for new employees.

Other highlights of his report included the partnership to improve 511 information, posting innovations on the external website, and the new video regarding employees making decisions on the front line. Port of Entry Inspector Tysha Darrington was also recognized for customer service. Her timely service allowed a truck driver to be the first one to come upon a highway crash scene later that day, where the trucker providde first aid that saved the life of the motorist who crashed.
