BOISE - Orchard Street north of Interstate 84 will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with no turn lane, on Friday night (Sept. 18). The lane restrictions are part of the Idaho Transportation Department's project to reconstruct the Orchard Interchange.
Crews are installing a storm drain on Orchard Street between Malad Street and the westbound off-ramp. Flaggers will direct traffic during the lane restrictions from 9 to 11 p.m.
ITD is building a new bridge and ramps to replace the old Orchard Interchange and make way for new lanes underneath on I-84. Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2010.
ITD and the Idaho State Police caution
motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where
increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to
plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state
highway or interstate system.
