FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Orchard Traffic Alert: eastbound Interstate 84 traffic will start using temporary off-ramp starting tonight (Sept. 21)

BOISE - Motorists exiting eastbound I-84 at the Orchard Interchange will use start using a temporary off-ramp at 10 p.m. tonight (Monday, Sept. 21). The temporary off-ramp will be in use for several months. The Idaho Transportation Department is constructing a wider and longer permanent off-ramp for the interchange.

Crews are placing concrete for the new eastbound off-ramp and a portion of Orchard Street south of I-84. The work also includes removing and replacing guardrail.

Over the next few months, one lane will be open on the temporary off-ramp. Motorists should plan ahead when driving through this area.

The $15.1 million Orchard Street Interchange project is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle bonds to expedite interstate improvements.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
