Orchard Traffic Alert: Overnight lane restrictions set for Thursday (Oct. 1) on Westbound I-84

BOISE -- A westbound lane on Interstate 84 will be closed overnight Thursday (Oct. 1) near the Orchard Interchange. Crews are completing work on a new westbound on-ramp as part of the Idaho Transportation Department's project to reconstruct the Orchard Interchange.

The outside westbound lane will be closed from 10 p.m. Thursday (Oct. 1) to 5 a.m. Friday (Oct. 2). Crews are striping pavement and placing guardrail on the new westbound on-ramp and I-84.

Construction is expected to be complete in spring 2010.

The $15.1 million Orchard Street Interchange project is funded through the GARVEE Transportation Program, which uses Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle (GARVEE) bonds to expedite interstate improvements.

ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
