Pancheri Overpass south of Idaho Falls to close Wednesday (Oct. 7) for joint sealing

RIGBY - Pancheri Overpass, south of Idaho Falls, will close Wednesday (Oct. 7) for joint sealing, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

Starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, crews will seal the three main joints of the deck with silicone. The bridge, which connects 17th Street and Pancheri Drive over Interstate 15, will reopen on Wednesday evening.

Westbound traffic will be detoured along Utah Avenue to Broadway and Skyline Drive. Eastbound traffic will be detoured along the route in reverse, along Skyline Drive to Broadway and Utah Avenue. Motorists should drive carefully and obey traffic signs.

The transportation department decided to do the needed maintenance work on Wednesday, given a break in the weather. The work is part of a bridge-preservation effort that began in the spring.

Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on state and federal highways.
