I-84 Update: overnight lane closures, traffic shift planned Sunday (Oct. 11) from Nampa to Meridian

BOISE - The Idaho Transportation Department will shift westbound I-84 traffic from temporary to permanent lanes Sunday night (Oct. 11), marking a milestone in the project to widen I-84 between Nampa and Meridian.

Westbound I-84 will be reduced to one lane from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday during the shift.

Westbound traffic had used temporary lanes on the other side of I-84 during paving this summer.

A third lane in both directions will open in late October or early November 2009.

ITD and the Idaho State Police caution motorists to slow down and pay attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit 511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
