FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Public meeting to be held on replacement of North Fork Payette River Bridge

CASCADE - A public meeting will be held to discuss the replacement of the North Fork Payette River Bridge on Idaho 55 just south of Cascade, the Idaho Transportation Department announced.

The meeting will be held in an open house format on Tuesday, Nov. 17, between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at the American Legion Hall, 105 E. Mill St., in Cascade. The public is encouraged to attend any time during the three-hour period. Displays illustrating the proposed bridge design and location will be available for review. Project staff will be available to provide information, discuss potential impacts, and answer questions regarding the new bridge on a one-on-one basis with the public. No formal presentation will be made.

The existing bridge was built in 1933 and does not meet current width standards or load requirements. The proposed bridge will be built to current safety standards, improving safety for motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.

Those unable to attend the meeting are encouraged to send comments to: Public Involvement Coordinator, P.O. Box 7129, Boise, ID 83707; e-mail to comments@itd.idaho.gov; or fax (208) 334-8563. Comments postmarked by Wednesday, Dec. 2, will become part of the public record for this project.
