COEUR D'ALENE - Construction of the U.S. 95 Wyoming to Idaho 53 project begins Monday (April 19), the Idaho Transportation Department announced. The contractor will be working Monday through Friday, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.
Lancaster Road, between U.S. 95 and Government Way, will be closed beginning Thursday (April 22) and will remain closed until further notice. A signed detour will be in place.
Two-way traffic will remain on the current highway lanes while the new northbound lanes and median are constructed. When finished, traffic will be switched over and construction will begin on the new southbound lanes.
Motorists can expect intermittent minor delays as traffic is stopped between Boeckel Road and Lancaster Road to allow truck traffic from the work site to cross the highway. Flaggers will guide traffic through the work zone area.
The contractor for this $6 million project is Interstate Concrete and Asphalt, of Coeur d'Alene. The project is funded with savings from federal highway stimulus projects bid earlier this year. The project is expected to be complete by this October.
ITD and the Idaho State Police warn motorists to slow down and pay
attention when driving in work zones, where increased speeding fines and other
penalties apply. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and dial 5-1-1 or visit
511.idaho.gov for information on the state highway or interstate system.
