REMINDER: Closures, detours planned for Garrity and I-84 drivers in Nampa this weekend
BOISE - Motorists
using eastbound I-84 and Garrity Boulevard should expect detours near
the I-84
Garrity Interchange from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. this weekend if weather
allows. This closure was planned last weekend and postponed due to
inclement weather. The Idaho Transportation Department advises that possibility exists again this weekend.
All closures and
detours are weather dependent.
SATURDAY NIGHT (DEC. 4)
- Weather
permitting, I-84 eastbound will be
closed between the Franklin and Garrity interchanges Saturday night (Dec. 4) from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. while crews remove
the Garrity bridge and prepare to shift eastbound traffic to the north into the
median. Traffic
will be detoured, exiting I-84 at Franklin Boulevard and re-entering I-84 from
Garrity Boulevard.
Please access ITD's Facebook page here for the detour maps.
SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY NIGHT (DEC. 4 AND
5)
- Weather
permitting, Garrity Boulevard will
be closed Saturday night (Dec. 4) and Sunday night (Dec. 5) at the I-84
Garrity Interchange while crews remove the I-84 eastbound bridge over Garrity
Boulevard.
Access to I-84 on-
and off-ramps will remain open during the overnight closures (10 p.m. to 5
a.m.). However, vehicles will not be able to travel beneath the I-84
Garrity Interchange bridge. Motorists planning to use Garrity Boulevard are
encouraged to use Stamm Lane, Robinson Road and Franklin Road as alternate
routes.
The eastbound bridge
is the final bridge to be removed and replaced at the Garrity Interchange. Once
it is replaced, the interchange will have a single bridge that accommodates
three lanes in each direction on I-84. An additional benefit will be the
removal of the bridge piers in the roadway at Garrity Boulevard.
The project is expected to be completed by summer 2011. There will be three
lanes in each direction over the bridge, eventually connecting with a fourth
lane in each direction east of the interchange.
Concrete Placing Co.
Inc., of Boise, is the contractor on this $15 million project.
