Trimboli takes helm at Office of Communication Aug. 3

A new face will grace the Office of Communication beginning Monday, as Vince Trimboli (pictured below, as press-box announcer for the WASHTO Funfest) takes the controls as manager after a 21-month vacancy, during which Governmental Affairs Manager Mollie McCarty served as acting manager for long-time chief Jeff Stratten.

Trimboli will be responsible for directing all aspects of media relations, marketing, and communication statewide. He will act as the chief spokesperson and public information officer for the department.

He holds a degree in Broadcast Journalism and has been in the communications business as a community/public relations manager, brand developer and journalist for more than 20 years. Trimboli spent the last nine years as Community Relations Manager for the city of Boise Public Works Department.

Trimboli started his career working for small radio stations in Montana. Along the way, he has worked as a daily newspaper reporter, a television news reporter/producer and sports director. He worked for the Dallas Cowboys, and pursued any other communication job or volunteer opportunity he could find.

“Vincent is extremely excited to join the team and work with the department's veteran communications staff,” said ITD Director Brian Ness.  Trimboli spent some time at the recent WASHTO conference, serving ITD even before officially joining the department.

“To say I’m excited to join the ITD communication team, Brian Ness and the entire department is an understatement,” said Trimboli. “Watching the ITD team put on a tremendous conference even further cemented my decision. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to come to work for the best department in Idaho. It’s going to be fun and fulfilling to work alongside an established team to tell our story of safety, mobility and economic opportunity.”

Trimboli becomes just the fifth communications chief in the history of the department. The Public Information Section was created in 1952, and Arthur Sherwood became the first Public Information Officer in 1953. Del Klaus succeeded him in 1957, Bill Harvey in 1966, and Stratten in 1985.

Trimboli is a father of two boys (ages six and nine) and is an outdoor enthusiast — trail running, biking, camping, rafting and fishing.
