Brinkman, Schroeder receive new temporary appointments

Two individuals who have guided the GARVEE (Grant Anticipation Revenue Vehicle) construction program through its busiest seasons received new appointments this week.

GARVEE Program Manager Jason Brinkman will become the acting ITD’s Right of Way Manager effective Monday (June 27). Amy Schroeder, who has worked closely with Brinkman the past three years as GARVEE Program Engineer will assume his role as acting program manager.

“We are extremely fortunate to have these two talented folks to accept these critical assignments,” said ITD Deputy Director Scott Stokes in making the announcement Tuesday (June 21). “Please offer them you full support in this transition.

Brinkman replaced Nestor Fernandez as the GARVEE program manager early in February 2008. Schroeder was named to replace him as program engineer the about a week later.

Earlier this year Brinkman was nominated for the Western Association of State Highway and Transportation Officers’ (WASHTO) Hewes Award. It recognizes outstanding contributions to the highway development program “by an individual actively engaged in highway development in the West with a WASHTO state organization.”

Schroeder is a product of ITD’s Engineer in Training program and has been active in the department’s outreach efforts to public school students, sharing her enthusiasm for her profession. Her appointment also is effective Monday.
