In Memoriam: ITD, aviation community lose valued friend

ITD and the Division of Aeronautics join the Idaho aviation community in expressing condolences to friend, pilot and advisory board member Scott W. Patrick. Scott, a long-time pilot and member of the Idaho Aeronautics Advisory Board, passed away Sunday (Sept. 25) of natural causes at a Boise hospital at the age of 59.

“Scott epitomized Idaho backcountry aviation, robust and fun,” said Aeronautics Division Administrator J.V. DeThomas. “He was the longest-serving member of our current Idaho Aeronautics Advisory Board and was an active participant in all of Idaho’s Aviation considerations.  We will miss his endless enthusiasm and his valued expertise.”

He was first appointed to the Aeronautics Advisory Committee in 2000 and was reappointed to the position in 2007 by Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter. He played an integral role in advising ITD on issues and policies related to aircraft operation in Idaho.

A native of Boise, Scott graduated from Boise High School in 1970. He owned and operated SP Aircraft, a charter air service.

Funeral services, under the auspices of Relyea Funeral Chapel, are planned Saturday at 5 p.m. at his home, 5523 S. Latigo Dr., Boise. Friends, colleagues and members of the aviation community are welcome to attend.
