Administrative support workshop includes
motivational speech, reports about ITD functions

Administrative support personnel from throughout the state got better acquainted – with themselves and with transportation department – when they assembled Thursday for the 23rd annual Administrative/Support Staff conference in Boise.

One of the morning highlights included a high-energy presentation by motivational speaker Vincent Kituku of Boise State University. He told attendees as long as they have dreams, they would never be poor. He broke the ice by moderating a spirited game of Bingo, in which every player and every card was a winner simultaneously.

Mike Golden, ITD’s Chief Administrative Officer, followed the conference welcome by Carla Anderson. Other morning speakers included Rick Smith and Jim Holland, who explained ITD’s bridge inspection process, and Michelle Carreras, who provided an overview of the State Communications Center.

The afternoon agenda included:

  • Brian Emmen, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and linear reference systems
  • Steve Spoor, ITD’s Equipment Fleet Management
  • Inez Hopkins , research on portable traffic counts
  • Dorothy Aydelotte, roadway, who explained the video log/profiler van data processing
