Plan on pedestrian ramps posted on ITD website

ITD has posted the final plan to build pedestrian curb ramps along state highways and improve existing ramps.

To view the plan, please visit: http://itd.idaho.gov/adatransitionplan

The plan, required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), identifies and prioritizes needed improvements along state highways across Idaho.

As part of that effort, the transportation department held public meetings in 2009 and 2010 to gather comments on how priorities should be set for future curb ramp improvements.

In addition, the department completed a statewide inventory to document locations in need of sidewalk or curb ramps to comply with ADA standards.

Locations where a sidewalk or pedestrian path exists with no curb ramp will be the first priority, followed by existing ramps that are the most out of compliance.

Questions about the plan can be e-mailed to comments@itd.idaho.gov or by phone at (208) 334-8005.

The TDD/TDY phone number is (208) 334-4458.
