Workshop offered on doing business with government

Anyone who does business with government agencies or departments or those considering offering a service will benefit from a free workshop Wednesday in Homedale.

Learn the rules of doing business with the government at the workshop from 8 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. at the Homedale Senior Center, 224 W. Idaho Ave., in Homedale.

The program will feature presenters from the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), the Idaho Department of Commerce, the Idaho State Division of Purchasing, the U.S. Small Business Administration and Mountain Home Air Force Base.

Participants will discuss bidding with the state of Idaho, requirements for bidding as a federal contractor, how business certifications can give an advantage, and services available, such as free bid matching.

Other topics to be covered include how to learn about government contracts and how to compete for them, the difference between state and federal contracting, understanding the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, 8(a) Business Development Program, HUBZone Certification, other business certifications and where to go for assistance.
