Board to present service awards to Headquarters employees The Idaho Transportation Board will honor 44 employees and 13 retirees next week during its November business meeting at Headquarters in Boise. The semiannual Headquarters Employee Service Awards program is planned for Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the auditorium with a reception, sponsored by DoRolCo, to follow in the lobby. Nine employees reached five years of service and 10 others marked a decade of service to ITD. The senior members of the group include Leonard Campbell and Kathyren Chase, who reached 35 years of service in 2011. Four others -- Mary Harker, Smokey Maberry, Barbara Parkhurst and Brett Purvis -- completed 30 years. Special recogition is planned for 13 Headquarters employees who retired in the first six months of 2011. Retirees range from eight years of service to 37 years. Four of the honorees left the department after mmore than 30 years of service, incluing Teri Blackburn (32 years), Doug Chase (34), Cheryl Rost (35) and Robert Snyder (37). Mike Golden, Chief Administrative Officer, will serve as program emcee. Board Chairman Darrell Manning and ITD Director Brian Ness will offer their congratulations to employees before the presentation of certificates. Ness also will formally present a national award to Michelle George for ITD's partnership with the Idaho Department of Commerce to create a jobs training program for wounded veterans. The Wounded Warrior program received one of the highest national honors -- the President's Award -- from the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. The award was announced at an AASHTO meeting earlier this year. ITD applied to the Federal Highway Administration for a grant to provide educational assistance for veterans seeking employment in the transportation industry. The Idaho Department of Commerce coordinates training with public and private training providers.
