Dr. Vincent Kituku: 'We're more alike than we realize'

Dr. Vincent Muli Kituku comes with a lot of titles: University professor. Author. Motivational speaker. Trainer. Life philosopher. Husband and father. The native of Kenya shares his varied background and a life of observations with audiences throughout the country.

This week, he made an encore at ITD, delivering a lunch-hour presentation that included cornucopia of interconnected life experiences. The Boise State University professor spoke at the cultural diversity brown-bag luncheon organized by Michelle George and Human Resource Services.

It was a sequel to an address he made earlier this fall at the annual Administrative Workshop.

A captivated audience at Headquarters and employees linked through video conferencing to all six districts, Tuesday learned:

  • We are all more alike than we realize
  • We should look for commonalities – things we have in common with others
  • We are shaped by similar experiences
  • We live in an era of blessings and opportunities
  • We should leave the past behind and concentrate on the present
  • The obstacles we bring from the past that can keep us from moving forward
  • Life guarantees that we will experience challenges
  • We all define success differently

He also described a recent return to his homeland and reunion with friends, family and former village members. H draws on that rich cultural heritage and his in-depth experience in corporate America to help others apply strategies for personal and professional growth.

He earned a bachelor’s of science degree from the University of Nairobi and a master’s and doctorate from the University of Wyoming.
