Walgreens to assist prescription transitions

As you are aware, effective Jan. 1 Walgreens no longer is a network pharmacy with Express Scripts the prescription management company that Blue Cross of Idaho uses.

Walgreens has notified ITD that pharmacy staff at all Walgreens will provide assistance to our employees and retirees making the transition to another pharmacy within the Express Scripts network. The assistance will include phone messages when an employee or retiree calls a Walgreens pharmacy and automated prescription transfers to a network pharmacy where possible.

Walgreens also will send a letter to their customers with prescription benefits under Express Scripts identifying other network pharmacies in their area to which they may transfer prescriptions.
