D-6 to embark on 31 construction projects in 2012

ITD's District 6 plans 31 highway construction projects in eastern Idaho this year (see map). Projects will include replacing the overpass on Pancheri Drive south of Idaho Falls and the interchange on Interstate 15 west of Dubois. Crews also will resurface segments of U.S. 20, U.S. 93 and Idaho 33.

Repairing and maintaining bridges; improving intersections; installing reader boards, radio transmitters and a port-of-entry scale; finishing the Dubois rest area; and seal coating stretches of road round out the project list.

For all projects, the estimated cost of construction is $49.5 million. Work will enhance and preserve state highways and improving safety and comfort for motorists.

For information about the projects, call 511 or visit 511.idaho.gov on the Internet. Reader boards (dynamic message signs) and FM radio transmitters notify motorists of road conditions, traffic flow and AMBER Alerts.

Projects start once contracts are awarded, construction is arranged and weather permits.
