ITD collaborates to produce Air National Guard video

Office of Communications staff members joined the Idaho Air National Guard in producing a video to promote a new program for at-risk youth.

When the Guard conceived the idea of a video to generate support for a proposed educational center in northern Idaho, Cpt. Chris Borders contacted ITD for assistance. The result, a television public service announcement, is a shining example of inter-agency cooperation and collaboration.

“The PSA was intended to garner support from Idaho businesses, organizations, philanthropists and the Idaho Legislature to match federal funds in an effort to open a facility in Coeur d’Alene,” explains ITD photographer Mark Hall. He and video specialist Dave Tuttle combined existing video and new segments to produce the PSA.

“Using local teens and footage provided by the Guard, the PSA was shot in an afternoon and completed the following day with minimal impact to staff workload,” Hall explained.

The proposed facility would house at-risk teens (male and female) at a live-in facility where they would complete their general education development (GED), engage in physical exercise and learn responsibility characteristics in a boot-camp environment.

Major General Gary L. Sayler and Brigadier General William H. "Bill" Shawver organized a ceremony on Friday to show the Guard’s appreciation to ITD for its continued support of the agency. They presented Tuttle, Hall and ITD Director Brian Ness with symbolic military coins to show their appreciation.

After the ceremony they toured the facility at Gowen Field and took seats at the stick of an A-10 simulator.
