Online research catalog available to ITD users

ITD’s Resource Center announces the online availability of the ITD Research Library Catalog. The link to the online catalogue is http://207.67.203.81/I90013Staff/OPAC/. The Research Library has deployed the EOS Web Express, a state-of-the-art, internet-based library software system. Keep an eye on the web page, as additional resources are made available, they will be linked via the column on the left hand side of the screen.

Users will find searching the new Online Public Assess Catalog (OPAC) efficient, and user-friendly. The catalog web page also will provide staff a starting point for performing transportation research. The OPAC provides access to ITD’s Online Public Access Catalog over the Internet.

A sign-in is not required to browse or search the OPAC but will be required for specific functions such as viewing account information, saving a search or placing a hold on an item. Dynamic search options allow the patron to search for a word, title, author or any number of elements that may be present in the items or topics you are looking for. Publisher, publication year, and series are just a few of the useful search criteria available. For an online tutorial, visit http://help.eosintl.com/OPAC/EN/Downloads/InstructionalMedia/OPAC_AboutOPAC.swf

The backlog of library materials is continually being entered into the catalogue and we hope to have this completed by the end of the year. As new reports are received, they are entered within two weeks.

More than 90 percent of the Transportation Research Board’s (TRB) publications already are entered into the system. Most TRB publications published after 2000 are available digitally. ITD’s campuses are linked to these publications via IP authentication. This means you can access the publications free of charge from ITD campus computers only.

Our growing online document collection consists of both scanned and “born digital” documents. The patron can access the full-text PDFs on their computer or smart phone. If you see the URL, just click and access. If you have difficulty with any aspect of the system, use the “E-mail Librarian” button on the left side of the screen to contact the Senior Research Analysts.

The Research Library is located at the HQ and serves all employees. ITD’s Research Library is a member of the Western Transportation Knowledge Network, and the Transportation Library Connectivity & Development Pool Fund, FHWA TPF-5(237). Both entities assist the solo-librarian to increase services to ITD’s staff.
