Hunter receives national honor for service to IRP

A long-term commitment to excellence paid off for ITD’s Jerri Hunter. She recently received the Richard L. Reeves IRP Leadership Award in recognition of outstanding service.

The IRP is an international registration reciprocity agreement for commercial vehicle registrations, adopted by all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Canada provinces.

IRP provides for the payment of apportionable fees on the basis of total distance commercial vehicles operated in the various jurisdictions. Its principle is to promote and encourage the fullest possible use of the national highway systems.

The Richard L. Reeves award is presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the IRP community, explains Mundo Rodriguez, Idaho Motor Carrier Services manager. Hunter was nominated by her IRP peers.

She became a technical records specialist with the commercial registration program in 1980 when it functioned under the Idaho State Police and was based at ITD Headquarters. For the past 19 years she has been ITD's interstate commercial program supervisor.

Hunter supervises a staff of six.

She was chosen for the award because she exemplifies the standards of leadership established by Rick Reeves during his 25 years of commitment to the transportation industry. It recognizes effective leadership and contributions within the nominee’s jurisdiction or within the IRP community.
