AASHTO appoints Cole to special committee

Idaho Transportation Department Chief Engineer Tom Cole has been named to the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials' Special Committee on Joint Development (SCOJD).

AASHTO President and Michigan Department of Transportation Secretary Kirk Steudle announced the appointment. He has accepted the two-year term on the committee.

Cole has been with ITD since 1982, when he came on board as a highway designer in Boise. Since then, Cole worked his way up through positions such as region engineer, assistant district engineer, district engineer, and finally chief engineer, a position he took in 2008.

SCOJD oversees cooperatively developing, maintaining, and enhancing packages and systems of computer software among groups of interested AASHTO member departments. It is responsible for monitoring, coordinating and providing technical direction for AASHTO's cooperative computer software development program.
