Employees invited to participate in charitable giving activities ITD employees will have an opportunity to join colleagues in other state agencies next month in building stronger communities. The annual State of Idaho Employees charitable giving campaign at ITD will be Oct. 15-31. Coordinator Tammie Jauregui said several events are planned at ITD to generate awareness, support and personal contributions to the annual fundraising campaign. The schedule of events is: “Wacky costume items are needed. Please let me know if you can help out and get working on those baskets,” Jauregui said. The State Employee Charitable Giving Campaign? The United We Care campaign has contracted with United Way of Treasure Valley to administer, collect and distribute employee contributions through payroll deductions and/or one-time gifts. The single distribution system keeps the costs of conducting a workplace campaign to a minimum. Your gift directly to United Way, or to any of the organizations receiving grants from United Way, or to any organization listed in the unaffiliated section, or to any 501(c)(3) organization you write-in on your pledge form will be distributed by your local United Way. The leadership team has agreed on a 10 percent administration to provide the service. Local United Way agencies across the state may add a pledge loss percentage appropriate to their local area. Pledge loss or shrinkage refers to the difference between the amount an individual pledges to give and what is collected. As an example, pledges can change during the year when a person moves or changes jobs; or they may be unable to fulfill their pledge commitment. Gifts to organizations listed under “Idaho Choices in Community Giving” and “Global Impact” are subject to additional fees of up to 8 percent. The two groups have member charitable organizations that have signed agreements authorizing the groups to receive and distribute contributions and to provide marketing services. United Way honors those agreements and sends your gifts to their member organizations directly to these umbrella groups for distribution. Thank you for participating in this year’s campaign and know that your Leadership Team continues to work to improve the pledging process and the administrative efficiency of the campaign.
