Support staff workshop planned Nov. 7

Delivering outstanding customer service isn’t limited to ITD employees who come in direct contact with the public. It extends to those who support those who provide first-hand services.

That message will be central to the expanded Support Staff Workshop (formerly Administrative Support) planned for Nov. 7 in Boise. The workshop, featuring a variety of external and internal presenters, has been expanded beyond administrative staff, explains co-chair Carla Anderson of the director’s office.

The focus, Anderson explains, is on customer service at all levels, which supports ITD's Strategic Plan goals.

“This is a great opportunity to reinforce our positive leadership message,” said Deputy Director Scott Stokes. “Our administrative staff across the department are in a unique position to carry that tone and theme.”

Registration for the workshop began this week. On-site registration will begin at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 1, at the Riverside Hotel in Garden City. The program will begin at 8:30 a.m., continue through a luncheon presentation and conclude at 4:30 p.m.

Those who wish to register early can do so on the department’s Intranet, using Share Point. The workshop is limited to 100.

External speakers include Brian Greber, director of the Boise State University Center for Business Research and Economic Development. He will talk about incorporating customer service in all aspects of ITD work. He has 19 years of experience in the private sector.

Michal Davidson, an archivist with the Idaho Historical Society will discuss unique historical artifacts unearthed during ITD construction projects and programs for preserving the recovered gems of Idaho history.

Internal speakers secured for the developing workshop agenda include: Skip Carter, DMV, discussing administrative license suspensions; Mike Pape, new Aeronautics administrator; Tim Thomas, deputy attorney general, Legal Section; and Jason Brinkman, Right of Way.

Donations still are being accepted for door prizes that will be awarded throughout the workshop. To contribute, contact one of the members of the organizing committee:
