Fenn named D-1 engineering manager

Marv Fenn likes new challenges and encourages others to do the same. His new job as District 1 Engineering Manager comes with plenty of challenges, but also with many rewards.

District Engineer Damon Allen said Fenn accepted the position and took over the reins Monday (Nov.12).

“I’m really looking forward to having Marv be an important part of the District 1 management team. His natural leadership abilities make him a very positive addition to the management team,” Allen said.

Fenn’s extensive background in construction and design made him well qualified for the position, noted Allen.

Idaho citizens are very engaged in transportation issues in the five northern counties, Fenn said.

“I will continue to build upon a legacy that includes excellent rapport with policymakers, elected officials and the public.”

Fenn was born in Idaho Falls and attended Idaho State University in Pocatello. He entered the department’s EIT program in 1991 and spent his first few years in District 1 as an EIT. He moved to Boise and District 3 in 1994 and worked in the Residency and Project Development as a staff engineer.

He returned to D-1 in 1998 to work in project development and later transferred to the Coeur d’Alene Residency. He was the resident engineer the past eight years.

He and his wife, Lauria, enjoy keeping up with the grandkids and camping. Fenn also is active in search and rescue, receiving the 2011 Volunteer of the Year award from the Kootenai County Search and Rescue. He also is an avid model airplane enthusiast.
