Name that system, claim some sweet treats

ITD is improving how it tracks projects through the Office of Transportation Investment (OTI) using a new system that needs a formal name.

Everyone is invited to submit his or her best names for the new system by Friday, Dec. 14, to Valerie Fend-Boehm at valerie.fend-boehm@itd.idaho.gov.

“We are modernizing current data management systems to integrate, enhance and streamline OTI efforts in budget and obligation planning, tracking and reporting to facilitate seamless project management,” explained Project Manager Valerie Fend-Boehm.

OTI establishes, develops and maintains the five-year highway, aeronautics and public transportation development programs for ITD.

Responsibilities include managing and facilitating the processes for budgeting, programming, obligating funds and related policy development and management. The office also is responsible for interpreting and applying requirements for funding eligibility and obtaining federal funding.

The new system will retain all previous functionality, would integrate the separate ITIP utility into the main project tracking system, remain fully configurable by OTI, and be maintained and supported as a statewide resource by the department’s Enterprise Technology Services, Fend-Boehm explained. The system also will provide more transparency and efficiency to the overall process of managing federal funds.

The winning entry will be announced Dec. 19 and will receive, in addition to bragging rights, a goody basket that is on display in the Headquarters’ lobby. It is filled with homemade raspberry and marionberry jams, a container of homemade deluxe granola and a supply of Starbuck’s French Roast Coffee and assorted teas.
