Department-wide workshop focuses on a respectful workplace

Achieving a goal of being the best transportation department in the country requires that ITD employees work together to create a respectful workplace that encourages the best from everybody.

Human Resource Services will deliver “Leading a Respectful Workplace” classes for all department employees and supervisors beginning in 2013. Available class dates will be posted at http://itdportal/sites/HR/TD/CourseOffering/Home.aspx

The course explores how ITD recruits new employees as an equal opportunity employer and what that means. The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) and diversity education also will be discussed, along with a review of ITD’s “Harassment in the Workplace” and “Non-Retaliation” policies.

The classes help employees and supervisors throughout the state understand their roles and responsibilities at ITD. They support the department’s commitment to equal employment opportunity for everyone.

ITD must assure the Federal Highway Administration that it meets internal civil rights requirements and other conditions each year. The requirement also applies to contractors on all ITD projects. The training is required for ITD to continue receiving federal aid.

Course presenters will be Barbara Conklin, Kellie Borgholthaus, and Michelle George, of Human Resource Services.
