ITD holiday highway clearing praised

ITD highway crews statewide were able to keep the roads open and passable during the holiday season despite several snowy and icy days, occasional bitterly cold temps and the dreaded melting-refreezing cycle. A few routes were closed for a matter of only hours during that time period, earning the department several kudos from citizens via email, Facebook and Twitter.

"Good job on keeping the roads safe here in Eastern Idaho." – via ITD Twitter by dps4305 on Dec. 24

“What a great job with the roads!!! Between ITD and ACHD, I had a worry-free drive to work this morning (12/27) and I am so grateful. The roads were in such great condition, traffic flowed well, and those of us with rear-wheel drive vehicles had a smooth drive to work. YOUR CREWS FOR THE ROADS ARE WONDERFUL!!” – Connie Hansen, Dec. 27

“Good morning - I live in Mountain Home and work in Boise, so I was dreading the drive on the freeway this morning.  I left very early because there are stretches that are often very icy in this kind of weather; but, thanks to the great work of Highway District 3, I felt very safe driving in this morning. Thank you so much for the great work.” – Terry Pobst-Martin, Dec. 27

“ITD has been doing a good job of keeping the roads clear! Made it thru ID 31 Monday in big winds and blowing snow. Thx!”
