ITD to deliver workshop for contractors

Contractors are invited to learn about protecting themselves on construction projects by spotting important contract provisions and keeping thorough project documentation. Construction claims also will be covered.

The free full-day workshop will be offered in three Idaho locations:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 19, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., at the Idaho Department of Commerce (J.R. Williams Building), Sawtooth Room, 700 West State Street, Boise.
  • Thursday, April 11, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., at the Idaho Transportation Department District Five Office, 5151 South 5th, Pocatello.
  • Tuesday, April 17, 8 a.m. - 3 p.m., at the Idaho Transportation Department District One Office, 600 W. Prairie, Coeur d’Alene.

The program will be presented by attorney Wendy Wendrowski and is sponsored by ITD's Disadvantaged Business Enterprise Supportive Services.
 
Topics will include: Basic contract law concepts; project documentation and records; progress payments and retention; change in project cost; change in contract time; differing site conditions; construction claims; and sample documentation and rules/guidelines for creating letters.
