Development conference planned April 2, 3

A two-day professional conference that highlights innovative approaches to transportation and modern project designs is scheduled April 2, 3 in Boise. The 2013 Project Development Conference focuses on implementing innovations that are “Smarter, Better and Faster.”

Project planners and designers from throughout Idaho will learn about technical and managerial topics such as the planning, design, construction and maintenance of transportation systems.

Sessions include formal presentations, audience discussion and professional interaction. Credits for professional development are available. Experts will present innovative solutions for transportation issues in:

  • Design
  • Materials
  • Construction
  • Planning
  • Environmental
  • Right of Way
  • Traffic

The Excellence in Transportation Awards banquet, scheduled for April 2 are sponsored annually by ITD. Awards will be presented the first night of the conference at the Boise Centre, recognizing outstanding initiatives in developing, planning and implementing transportation projects throughout Idaho. The awards program includes projects in the following categories:

  • Construction
  • Small Design (construction less than 2 million
  • Large design (construction more than $2 million
  • Environmental and stewardship
  • Maintenance and operations
  • Public participation
  • Transportation planning

The Excellence in Transportation awards also recognize ITD employees in transportation-related fields who have made exceptional contributions to the organization, specifically in the following areas:

  • ITD Engineer of the Year
  • ITD Professional of the Year
  • ITD Career Achievement

Awards to winners in each category will be presented April 2 at 6 p.m. at Boise Centre.
