HQ lunch series will feature inspirational film March 21

Rick Finkelstein was paralyzed in a 2004 ski accident on Aspen Mountain in Colorado where he sustained a severed spine and internal trauma.

Six years, nine surgeries and a lifetime of rehabilitation later, cameras captured his dramatic return to Aspen in “The Movement: One Man Joins an Uprising.”

The inspiring, 40-minute film will be shown at noon, March 21 (11 a.m. Pacific), in the Headquarters Auditorium as part of ITD’s brown-bag lunch series. The film will be broadcast to all ITD districts.

“The Movement” is about one man’s return to the mountain where his life was changed forever. He receives inspiration in his quest from four people who overcame their own physical disabilities to discover or rediscover freedom of movement through skiing. Their experiences in the mountains serve as a metaphor for leaping over hurdles created by living with a disability.

“This project tells the stories of five people, from all walks of life, who found a way to experience a freedom. They are an inspiration,” says Robert Redford, who with Warren Miller, narrate the production.

Peppered with humor and drama, the film has been nominated for seven movie awards and 20 film festivals, including Sundance.
