ValleyRide posts schedule, status reports on 511

Valleyride, which provides public transportation in the Treasure Valley, has become the latest transit system in Idaho to join the state’s 511 Traveler’s Services System website at www.511.idaho.gov. Now, transit riders in Ada and Canyon counties can find route, schedule and bus stop information on the interactive website.

“Our presence on the 511 web site is a big step forward towards providing more comprehensive transit information to our customers,” said Mary Barker, services development manager for Valley Regional Transit. “We are excited about this new outlet for information and the additional website enhancements planned for later this year.”

The Valleyride transit system is the ninth transit system in Idaho to post information about its services on ITD's 511 site. ValleyRide information on the website includes interactive route maps for all city and intercounty routes. Customers can mouse over a bus stop and see the next three scheduled pick-up times at that stop. Full route schedule information also is available.

Barker said future information enhancements for the Valleyride system include:

  • Smart phone applications
  • Posting route detours on route maps
  • Providing real- time locations of where buses are along the routes and updated bus stop pickup times based on any delays
