CE News honors Brinkman as a 'Rising Star'

Civil Engineering News featured ITD’s Jason Brinkman among the nation’s top “rising stars” of the engineering field in its current edition of the online magazine CE News. Bob Drake, editor of the magazine, announced Brinkman’s inclusion in the prestigious group in March.

“This second annual Rising Stars in Civil Engineering recognizes 15 professionals, 40 years old or younger working in the United States, who have shown exceptional technical capability, leadership ability, effective teaching or research, or public service benefiting the civil engineering profession, their employers, project owners and society,” according to the magazine.

CE News and Structural Engineer editors selected the civil engineers “from an impressive group of nominees” from both the private and public sectors.

In that critical position, he oversees deployment of ITD’s new management systems and other technology initiatives for the Highway Division.

Brinkman joined ITD as an Engineer in Training in 2000 and has worked as an engineer associate, staff engineer, engineer tech. and engineer manager.

In 2008, he was named manager of the GARVEE Program, where he was responsible for administering nearly $900 million in bond-funded construction projects statewide.

In 2011, he was nominated for one of the most prestigious awards – the Dr. L. I. Hewes Award, presented by the Western Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. The award recognizes outstanding contributions to the highway development program by an individual actively engaged in highway development in the western U.S.
