Son of D-3's Garz claims track title

Daniel Garz, son of District 3 program management’s Michael Garz, won the 4A state title in 800-meter run at the recent state track meet at Eagle High School. His winning time was 1:57.12, less than a second in front of a runner from Pocatello.  Garz also ran a leg for the third-place 4x400 relay team from Emmett High School.

Said proud father Michael, “This season Daniel ran quite well. In the 800, he was able to win all the district races. He only finished second once, and that was to a kid from Rocky Mountain High School at the 5A level.” 

That runner finished second in the 800 in the 5A state meet.

Michael also said that during the season his son set a school record of 1:56.6 – breaking his own time from the prior year .
