Free Meridian workshop shows how to do business with government

The public can learn basic guidelines for doing business with the government at a free workshop Sept. 5, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Meridian City Hall, 33 E. Broadway Ave.
 
The program will feature presenters from ITD, the Idaho Department of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration and Mountain Home Air Force Base.
 
Participants will get an overview on bidding with the state of Idaho, requirements for bidding as a federal contractor, business certifications that can give an advantage and services available, like free bid-matching.
 
Other topics to be covered include government contracts and how to compete for them, the difference between state and federal contracts, understanding the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) program, 8(a) Business Development Program, HUBZone certification, other business certifications and where to go for assistance.
