New Murphy shed to improve maintenance responses

A new maintenance facility that will improve highway maintenance responses in southwest Idaho was completed recently.

Construction began last year on the new maintenance facility that will enable ITD to better serve the needs of motorists on Idaho 78 between Grand View and Marsing.

"Realigning the Mountain Home and Caldwell maintenance boundaries and building this new shed in Murphy will help ITD provide better snowplow coverage and will increase customer service," said District 3 Maintenance Engineer Tom Points when the project was announced.

The facility, built by Gafford Construction of Boise, represents ITD's commitment to three primary strategic plan goals: safety, mobility and economic opportunity. Maintenance personnel based at the new facility will be responsible for the area between Mountain Home and Caldwell, including parts of Idaho 78, 45, 167 and 51. David Stephenson is the maintenance foreman for the region.
