Incident Response ensures safe tire transplant

Friday, Oct 4, around 11:30 a.m. I was hauling a small load of freight to Garden City from south Nampa on Interstate 84 when a trailer tire on the passenger’s side blew.

My son and I found it easiest to get out of the travel lane by moving one lane to the left and getting in the hazard lane. That put the problem side of the trailer on the traffic side.

We thought by waiting for a break in the traffic we would cross all lanes of I-84 and get to the other side of the freeway. Well, that never happened.

I saw your (Incident Response) van go by heading west hoping he saw us. Sure enough he did a few minutes later he appeared and got traffic to slow down and move over a bit, giving us a much higher level of safety comfort so we could get the problem tire off and get the spare on.

The operator of your van was a very helpful pleasant individual who put us at ease and helped us with the task at hand even offering use of his tools.

This is a great program and your employees don’t receive enough compensation for risking their lives for all the crazy drivers out there who don’t yield or move over for emergency vehicles.

Thank you very much.

Dale Jeffers,
Nampa
