D-4 raises more than $4,000, food donations for local charities

District 4 employees celebrated another eventful year and another amazing fundraising effort when they gathered for the 23rd annual Employee Christmas Party and Raffle Dec. 10 in Shoshone.

The party raised $4,160 through the raffle and live and silent auctions. It also generated several hundred pounds of donated food as employees vied for more than 100 items donated from employees, local businesses and organizations.

More than 120 employees, retirees and family members attended the party along with Santa and Mrs. Clause who passed out door prizes and presided over the raffle.

“To see the generosity of our employees for people in our area every year is an amazing thing to witness,” said Christmas committee chair Doug Yearsley. This is the third consecutive year fundraiser proceeds exceeded $4,000.

The money will be split among the Hunger Coalition in Bellevue, Mini-Cassia Christmas Council in Heyburn and the East End Providers in Kimberly. Each organization provides holiday gifts, food and financial assistance to their local communities.

The food donated by D-4 employees has been split and delivered to three local food banks: Helping Hands of Gooding, Helping Hands of Custer County and the Shoshone Food Pantry.

“I want to give a huge thanks to all the members of the Christmas committee for organizing a great lunch, a tremendous number of donations for the raffle and auction, and the opportunity to gather with our fellow employees,” Yearsley said.
